How does the Body Work?

Have you ever wondered how the body works?
The body uses several different systems to keep it going, such as the nervous system, the skeletal system, the respiratory system, the muscular system, the cardio vascular system, the digestive system and the circulatory system.

The nervous system includes your brain and eyes. Your eyes use muscles to turn so that shows that all your systems have to work together to help you stay alive. If you didn’t have your brain you would be dead because your brain controls what your body must do like all your emotions, walking, how to talk, and it even tells your heart to beat.

Your heart is like a pump. It pumps blood all around your body, which keeps you alive. Your heart is located in the centre of your chest. Did you know that your heart is actually hollow? It fills up with blood and then squeezes it out so that it is pumped all around your body.

Your lungs help you breathe, but to breathe you need oxygen. Your Alveoli transfers oxygen into your blood and the carbon dioxide out. Alveoli are very tiny; about 400 of them would fit into one square centimetre. Alveoli are tiny sacs at the ends of the bronchus inside the lungs.

So to help your body stay alive, you need all your systems to work together.

How does the Body Work

How does the body work?
Do you ever wonder how the body works? Well in your body you have things like your brain, heart, bones, muscles and other things that help your body work.

Your brain tells your body what to do. Its signals get sent along your nerves all around your body.
Different parts of your brain control different things that you do. For example, in your brain you have a thinking area, which controls your thinking. You also have a movement area, a speech area, a vision area, a sensory area and a hearing area. Another thing you have is a cerebellum, which controls your balance, and it makes sure that your movements are smooth. If you damage your brain you might not be able to do some things.

You also have a heart, which is working all the time. Your blood goes into your heart and then your heart pumps the blood out. This takes the blood around your body. It takes less than a minute until your heart has pumped blood all around your body.

The bones in your body are very important. Your skeleton lets you move with the help of your muscles. Your skeleton is like a framework for your body to hold you up. You have lots of different bones in your body that all help you move. You have joints, which allow you to bend. Your elbows are joints and so are your knees you have joints in other places too. You have different types of joints, the ball and socket joint the pivot joint and the hinge joint. You have a ball and socket joint and because of this you can move your shoulder around in a circle. The hinge joint lets your knee bend backwards, but not forwards and the pivot joint let your wrists twist. Your bones also protect parts of your body like your brain, lungs and heart.

The muscles in your body tighten up and get smaller, this makes them pull which helps you to move. There is usually two muscles working together so that they can pull in too different directions. Sometimes when you hurt your muscles you might not be able to use that part of your body until it heals.

These are all things that help your body work. So I hope you now know some interesting information. By Jasmine ☺

How does the body work?

There are lots of different body systems that cooperate to keep the body working.

The Nervous system
The brain is the control center of the Nervous system, it sends messages around your body using nerves. The messages tell your heart to pump, your muscles to move and your lungs to breath. If you didn't have a Nervous system you couldn't do anything.

The Muscular system
The Muscular system helps your body move, every muscle is attached to a bone. To work a muscle must contract, when it contracts it moves the bone it is attached to. A muscle contracts when a message reaches it through a nerve.

The Circulatory system
The heart pumps blood through arteries to the lungs where it collects oxygen to supply to the muscles and tissues. When the blood doesn't have any oxygen in it, it travels back along a vein to the heart where it gets pumped back to the lungs.

The Skeletal system
The Skeletal system is the structure of the whole body. Where your bones meet it is like a hinge enabling you to move. There are 206 bones in an adults skeleton. if you didn't have any bones you would just collapse.

Together these systems help keep the body going through the day. Now you know how some parts of the body work.
